Bicycle Storage


The bicycle room is located on the lower level.


Bulletin Board


There is a bulletin board located in the Laundry Room. Residents can post notices of items for sale, events, and unit sales by owners (not realtors). Notices on a 3”x 5” card should be given to the Management Office to post.


Cab Light


To call a cab, ask the door staff to activate the cab light.


Carts/Luggage Carts


Carts for bringing groceries and packages to and from the units are available in the lobby. Carts must be signed out at the front desk. Please be sure to return the carts to the door staff after use. A cart for large packages is located near the Receiving Room and should be returned to the lower level.


Deliveries/Receiving Room


Please see the Association rules for complete information on scheduling deliveries for larger items.

The receiving room is located in the lower (basement) level. The receiving room is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.




Due to limited space, driveway parking is restricted to ten minutes for pick up or drop-off of passengers or packages. Please do not block access to the wheelchair ramp or the garage.




There are six passenger elevators, three serving floors 1 – 26 and three serving 27 – 52. Only the two north elevators in each bank provide access to the lower level. These serve as the freight elevators from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday.

For large deliveries (e.g., furniture) or move-ins and move-outs, the elevators must be reserved through Buildinglink. Fees may apply.

The freight elevators are approximately 4’6” x 3’3”x 8.6” with a weight capacity of 2500 pounds.

If you find yourself stuck in an elevator, do not panic! There is an emergency button and a speaker system in each elevator for communication with the door staff.




For police, fire, or medical emergencies, call 911. After calling for emergency help, notify the front desk so the door staff can be ready to assist the responders.


Exercise Room


The Exercise Room is located on L3 across from the Management Office and is accessed via a residents key fob.  A signed waiver is needed to access the facility.

If any of the exercise equipment is broken or malfunctioning, please inform the Management Office so it can be repaired.


Front Desk/Lobby Communications


The door staff will contact you on your telephone to announce visitors or deliveries.


Holiday Fund


Each December, the Association establishes a Holiday Fund for the Newberry Plaza staff: door, receiving, maintenance, relief, and office. Owners and residents are encouraged to contribute to the fund to express appreciation for the many services rendered by the staff throughout the year. Specific details are distributed in late November.


Laundry Room


The Laundry Room is located on L3. A debit card system is used to pay for the washers and dryers. The card is obtained from the VTM machine. There is $5 fee for replacement cards. If your card breaks, there is no charge to replace it. The laundry card deposit machine accepts only $5, $10 and $20 bills.

If a washer or dryer is out of order, please put a notice on it, so it can be repaired. Please dispose of your dryer sheets in one of the trashcans. Dryer sheets left on the floor could cause someone to slip and fall.

Laundry carts are available for use only in the Laundry Room. Please don’t remove them.




There are bookcases in the laundry room where you can donate unwanted books. To help keep the supply replenished, please replace it or donate another one.


Mail/Mail Boxes


Our zip code is 60610.

For faster mail service, please make sure your unit number is on all incoming mail. Notify your correspondents (business or personal) to include this on all mail being sent to you. If you will be gone for more than a few days, please arrange for your mail to be picked up or request that the mail carrier hold it for you.

The cost for a mailbox key is $2.50. If the Management Office does not have a key on file, the lock will be changed for a fee of $75.00


Management Office


The Management Office is located on L3 next to the Laundry Room. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. The Office is closed on major holidays.

Residents may use the office copier and the fax machine during office hours for a small fee.


Multi-Use Room


The Multi-Use Room is located on L3. This room is available for use by owners and residents with a minimum of 72 hours notice. A refundable deposit of $150, a guest list, and a signed agreement are required to reserve the room.


Storage Lockers


Storage lockers are located in the service area of each resident floor. Keys to the storage room are provided for a fee of $2.50. There is one designated locker per unit. Owners must provide their own locks for their individual lockers.

Swimming Pool


The swimming pool is located outdoors on L2 and is usually open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is a charge for the use of the pool to help cover the cost of daily maintenance and security.

Applications for the season are made available to residents in May of each year. Guest passes are also available for a fee. Specifics are detailed in the application information available in the Management Office.


Trash and Recycling


The garbage chute is located at the back of the service area on each floor. Please push your securely bagged garbage far enough into the chute that it goes all the way down.

Newberry Plaza has an active recycling program for paper, cans, glass, and plastic. Be sure to use the appropriate bins for each type of material as indicted on the signs posted. It is important that residents participate in the recycling effort as Newberry Plaza receives a rebate of up to $75 per unit annually from the City of Chicago for compliance.


Vending Machines


Vending machines are located on L3 around the corner from the Multi-Use Room. There is a candy/snack machine and a soda machine. Both take coins and dollar bills.
